On March 13th, 2010, the Zombies battled the Robots for ultimate supremacy at Dante’s. We’re still not sure who really won, but the whole thing was sponsored by PDX.FM, MacTarnahan’s, and Glowing Greens. Click the picture to go to our photo gallery.
The semi-finals weren’t even close. Bender, the foul-mouthed, booze-swilling robot against zombie Michael Jackson (don’t worry: we checked, and it’s not too soon to make this joke). That’s quite a final pair.
We’ll let the question of who would win that battle go unanswered, however, in favor of finding out for real. Literally 24 hours from right now we’ll be watching zombies and robots square off against each other in a boxing ring. A boxing ring in the middle of Dante’s. Yes, the announcer, the audience, and most likely the participants will be enjoying awesome beer provided by MacTarnahan’s. Between bouts you’ll be entertained by sick local bands. We’re podcasting the entire thing live. There will no doubt be other surprises.
Here’s your chance to fight for the title in Zombie vs. Robot Boxing, as well as the chance to knock the lights out of Emily Gibson from The Meat Show and Cort Webber from Cort and Fatboy on PDX.FM.
We are accepting 4 girls and 4 boys.
To enter to fight, fill out the form below completely. We will contact you prior to the start of Zombotica to let you know what time you’ll be duking it out against the other side.
By a two-to-one margin, ya’ll chose Bender as the most fantastic robot ever created. That’s rather appropriate: he drinks, he swears, he’s rude and obnoxious, he bends stuff, and he lives in the future. All in all, a very good choice.
Which zombie will he match up against the ultimate pre-Zombotica robots vs. zombies contest? Vote now.
Who’s hungrier for braaaaaaaains? Whose corpse is more decomposed? Which zombie would freak you the hell out? (Right now Bender is beating Optimus Prime in the robot finals. Have an opinion? Vote now.)
Are you just about ready to rock out, have some drinks, watch or participate in ridiculous boxing matches, and have an awesome evening?
Yeah, we are too.
Of course we’ll have a few other surprises up our sleeves, but now that you know the basics of what to expect, we expect to see all you zombie and robot fans out in force. Even though we’re encouraging everybody to dress up (it’ll be more fun that way, plus you’ll be eligible for the costume contest), you don’t have to. That’s right — if the only thing holding you back is that you don’t want to make a killer costume, don’t worry about it. Just come and have fun and see cool live local bands and revel in the glory of Zombotica.
Zombotica is going to pit local zombies and robots against each other in an inflatable boxing ring to see who’s toughest. But before the event, we want to know who your favorite pop-culture zombies and robots are. Here’s your chance to vote. (And if you haven’t already, pick the winners in the robot bracket.)
OMG BEER! MacTarnahan’s, one of the official sponsors of Zombotica has gone over the top. They will be there in person with 664 servings of special craft beer in kegs and bottles. If that wasn’t enough, you are going to blow your brains when you hear the price their shelling out for… in a good way.
Our overall response thus far is that the robots may be a little ahead in attendance. Perhaps we should offer a special special drink for the zombies? (Emily loves zombies.)
